Swimming Pool Credit Program Discontinued

In August of 2017 the Sanitary District of Decatur started to evaluate the swimming pool credit program. The main factors considered were the relatively low benefit for the customer compared to the cost of issuing pool credits and the fact that other options were available to residents who did not want to pay Sanitary District user fees for outdoor water uses.

Southeast 36 Inch Sewer Rehabilitation

The South East 36 Inch Interceptor lining project is being financed in its entirety by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes installing a CIPP lining in 7,015 linear feet of sewers and rehabilitating 17 manholes and will cost $1,200,000. Once complete, it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses in Decatur by preventing inflow and outflow from the sewers and extend the useful life of the sewer by 50 to 100 years.
