2016 Proposed Property Tax Levy

The Sanitary District of Decatur’s 2016 proposed property tax levy is $3,872,469 with $1,402,000 of the total being the aggregate levy and $2,470,469 restricted to debt service payments. This is an increase of $313,692 with $247,388 designated for debt service payments and $66,000 for pension expenses. The increase is projected to cost a resident with a $77,500 home an additional $4.39 per year on their tax bill. However, the District plans on offsetting the debt service increase by reducing a projected 2017 user fee increase to reduce or eliminate the impact on homeowners.

Sanitary District Improvements near Kiwanis Park

DECATUR-    The Decatur Sanitary District is making improvements to the area south of the bike path where Forest Ave enters Kiwanis Park.

A recent inspection of this area revealed evidence of trespassing and vandalism. The vandalism consisted of offensive and derogatory graffiti and damage to district property. The graffiti was removed immediately and the damage is being repaired. Since the initial removal, graffiti has been reapplied several times. The District is repainting the area when we become aware of new graffiti. The District has also removed overgrown brush in the area to improve sight lines for security cameras.
