Imagine a Day Without Water
Kent Newton- SDD Executive Director
Water is an essential element of our daily lives, a precious resource that often goes unnoticed until it’s absent. The Sanitary District of Decatur understands the significance of water in our community, and we’re proud to participate in the “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign. This nationwide initiative aims to raise awareness about the vital role water plays in our lives and communities. We hope our participation in this campaign will inspire our communities to appreciate, conserve, and protect our most valuable resource.
The “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign is an opportunity for us to reflect on the critical role water plays in our daily lives. It encourages us to contemplate what a day without water would look like, highlighting the numerous ways water influences our routines, jobs, health, and well-being.
In the Decatur area, water is not just a convenience; it’s a cornerstone of our community’s prosperity. Our industrial base relies on water for production processes, and our agricultural sector depends on it to grow crops. Without a reliable water supply, these essential components of our local economy would be compromised. Moreover, our homes, schools, and hospitals rely on clean and safe water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. A day without water would disrupt these essential services, affecting the health and quality of life for our residents.
The Sanitary District of Decatur is committed to providing Macon County and the City of Decatur with safe, reliable and cost-effective wastewater services. Our efforts include working continuously to improve wastewater collection and treatment facilities and processes to protect the environment and public health.
This campaign serves as a reminder of the importance of water conservation and the responsible use of this finite resource. By participating in the “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign, we hope to raise awareness about the value of water and inspire individuals, businesses, and government entities in Decatur to take action to preserve and protect our water resources.
