New Pretreatment Administrator
The Sanitary District of Decatur is pleased to announce Austin Gruber joining the SDD team in the role of Pretreatment Administrator.
The Pretreatment Administrator coordinates and administers the daily activity of the Industrial Pretreatment Program as approved by the USEPA and Illinois EPA; represents the District as the point of contact with the Industrial Users, IEPA and the USEPA at the operating level; and processes applications, prepares permits and monitors the performance of Industrial Users.
Austin has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a focus in Ecohydrology from Illinois College in Jacksonville, where he also played 4 years of football. Austin comes to the District with 3 years of environmental experience, starting with an internship at AGCO Grain and Protein (GSI) in Assumption, IL. After graduating, Austin went to ADM as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Technician at the West Plant. Later, he transitioned to his most recent position as an Environmental Specialist at ADM, focusing on environmental compliance and improvement.
Austin is married to his wife Kylie, an ER nurse. Austin and Kylie have an 18-month-old boy, a baby girl on the way and two dogs. Austin is an avid hunter and outdoorsman and will be beginning his football coaching career this season. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
